About NEPA

The New England Pain Association (NEPA), a local chapter of the American Pain Society (APS) and its international parent organization the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), is a not-for-profit educational and scientific organization. NEPA serves people in pain by advancing research, education, treatment and professional practice.

NEPA represents the interests of a wide variety of practitioners and researchers in the field of pain treatment. The membership is comprised of physicians, psychologists, nurses, dentists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, basic scientists, complementary therapy practitioners and other professionals who are committed to better understanding and managing pain.

Each state in New England has an elected Representative to NEPA, who is apprised of legislative, insurance, clinical practice and other state-specific issues pertinent to the management of pain. This state representative links the Executive Board with members, ensuring that the needs of each state will be addressed.

The mission of the New England Pain Association is to serve people in pain by advancing research, education, treatment and professional practice in New England. As a multidisciplinary educational and scientific organization, NEPA recognizes that these goals can be best accomplished by a joined and interactive effort between scientists (basic and clinical) and healthcare professionals from all disciplines.
